Around The Courts: Division Leaders, a New Youth Team Play, and Friday Morning Momentum at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach

October is off to a strong start at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach, with one of our teams sitting atop their Space Coast division, a new advanced Youth Team Play League in the works, and our Friday morning clinics continuing to draw big crowds. Here’s a look at what’s been happening on our courts and what’s ahead.

Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights

A big shout out to the Heat Strokes, who are currently #1 in their division in the Space Coast League! What a season it’s been for this team, and we can’t wait to see them keep the momentum going through the rest of the year. Keep up the incredible work!

On the junior side, we hosted a fantastic L6 Junior Tournament in September, covering six divisions and drawing close to 40 participants. It was a great weekend of competitive junior tennis, and we appreciate every player, family, and volunteer who helped make it a success.

Looking ahead in October, our Friday morning clinics continue to be a huge hit here at RCCB! At 9:00 AM we host our Doubles Fundamentals clinic, followed by our Drills, Drill, Drill clinic. Both are well-attended, well-received by the community, and a great way to sharpen your game while connecting with fellow players.

On the junior side, we’re excited to be working on hosting an advanced youth team play League at RCCB this October, with matches played on Friday afternoons. A special shout out to Jackie Pitts for all of her hard work coordinating with team captains and working with parents to find teams for our players. This is a great opportunity for our competitive juniors to get valuable match play in a team setting, and we can’t wait to see the league in action.

Facility Update

New to the area, looking for a place to play, or thinking about picking up a new hobby? We’d love to have you! Give our Pro Shop a call at 321-296-8182 or stop by anytime — we have a spot for you at RCCB.

Coaches Tip of the Month

To create more speed on your serve, relax your hand on your grip to allow more racquet head acceleration. A tight grip slows your wrist and forearm through contact, robbing you of the whip-like motion that generates real pace. Try holding the racquet just firmly enough to keep control, then let your arm and wrist snap freely through the ball. You’ll be amazed at how much extra pop you can find just by loosening up.
