It’s been a season to remember at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach. Our league teams represented RCCB with pride this spring, and as the calendar flips to summer, we’re welcoming new faces, hosting new leagues, and gearing up for a Summer Camp packed with young players. Here’s a look at what’s been happening and what’s ahead.
Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights
Our Space Coast League season has officially wrapped, with more than ten teams participating from RCCB this season and one team earning an invite to the end-of-year banquet. A special shout out to the Heat Strokes, one of our Ladies Space Coast teams, for finishing second in their division in their very first season together, a fantastic result for a brand-new team. We also want to recognize our two Junior Team Tennis (JTT) teams for completing their first season in the league, a great milestone for our growing junior community.
Looking ahead, our USTA Mixed Doubles and Combo leagues are getting underway, and we’re proud to be hosting more than five teams at RCCB this summer.
On the junior side, our Summer Camp kicks off June 1 and runs through the end of July. We’re expecting close to 20 kids weekly throughout the summer, and we can’t wait to see the courts full of young players developing their game and having fun.
Facility Update
We’re thrilled to welcome our summer camp counselors to the RCCB team! Meehan Weis is a rising junior at Cocoa Beach High School, where she plays on the girls’ tennis team. Lila Weis is a recent Cocoa Beach High School graduate and will be a freshman at Clemson University this fall. Kendrick Lash is a rising senior at Howard University, where he plays on the men’s tennis team. Each of them brings strong tennis backgrounds and great energy, and we’re excited to have them on board for the summer.
Coaches Tip of the Month
When serving, try applying a softer grip on your racquet to help with racquet head acceleration. A relaxed grip allows the wrist and forearm to whip through contact more freely, helping you generate more pace and spin on the ball. Tension slows you down, so loosen up and let the racquet do the work.
