Summer memories are still fresh at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach, from an unforgettable Breakfast at Wimbledon morning to a Summer Camp packed with new players and lasting friendships. As August rolls in, we’re gearing up for Space Coast League play and welcoming our junior programs back into the after-school swing. Here’s a look at what’s been happening on our courts and what’s ahead.
Junior & Adult Tennis Highlights
On the adult side, our Breakfast at Wimbledon event on Sunday, July 12 at 7:30 AM was a huge success. Twenty-four players joined us in their all-England white attire for a morning of mixed doubles, switching partners after each round for a lively, social format. A special shout out to Michele and Lou Hyne for their energy and effort in helping make the event so memorable.

Looking ahead in August, our Space Coast League matches begin, and we’re proud that many teams call RCCB home. With so many of our home teams continuing to practice through the summer, we’re excited to see all that hard work pay off across a variety of divisions and levels.
Our Summer Camp was a blast this year, averaging 22 campers per week throughout the season. For many participants, this was their first exposure to tennis, and plenty of great memories were made on the court, in the pool, and during our classic water balloon tosses. Special thanks to our coaches Jackie Pitts and Nick Velazquez for helping bring the energy every week.
As the kids make their way back to school, we’re excited to continue our junior programs after school. Red Ball runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, Orange Ball runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, Yellow Ball runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, and Tournament Tough runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Also, be on the lookout for daytime junior programs for homeschoolers coming in September!
Facility Update
If you haven’t yet, please help us welcome Cristina Engel, who has settled in nicely as our morning front desk attendant. Stop by and say hello the next time you’re in for a morning session!
Coaches Tip of the Month
When serving, remember to hit the ball as you’re moving up into it, not on the way down. A simple phrase to help train your brain is “hand up, eyes up.” Keep your toss hand up longer, keep your eyes on the ball at contact, and you’ll naturally stay tall and hit up on the ball. This is one of the biggest keys to unlocking more power, spin, and consistency on your serve.
